A standout moment of the Townhall was the launch of AMBER, Cairn’s AI-powered Chief Listening Officer, designed to deepen employee engagement and feedback. From its humble beginnings, Mangala has emerged as a pillar of India’s energy security. To date, Rajasthan fields have produced over 760 million barrels of oil equivalent, with Mangala alone contributing 536 million barrels. Beyond fuelling the nation’s energy needs, our operations have generated significant socio-economic impact, contributing more than USD 27 billion to the national and state exchequers. This achievement underscores the basin’s strategic role in India’s journey towards Energy Aatmanirbharta.

The journey is far from over. With 4.8 billion barrels of discovered hydrocarbons and over 6.5 billion barrels of prospective resources, the Rajasthan block is poised for its next ambitious chapter. Innovations such as India’s largest commercial Alkaline Surfactant Polymer (ASP) injection at Mangala, coupled with advanced technologies like horizontal wells, hydraulic fracturing and AI-driven process optimisation are already setting new benchmarks in field development. As full field ASP injection begins, our production potential continues to expand, reinforcing our bold goal to contribute to 50% of India’s domestic oil and gas output.

Equally important is our commitment to sustainability and responsibility. From decarbonisation and water stewardship to waste-to-wealth initiatives, we are progressing steadily toward our Net Zero Carbon 2030 ambition. The drill began with the swift activation of the Incident Response Team (IRT), led by Mr. Hiren Parikh, IM-MPT and was later escalated to the EMT under the leadership of Mr. Shailendra Kumar Jetley, BU Director- RJ North, in line with Cairn’s Emergency Management Procedure. Both teams displayed calmness, professionalism and promptness in their response. Seamless coordination between the IRT and EMT enabled smooth decision-making, efficient mobilisation of resources and effective engagement with multiple stakeholders.

The exercise not only demonstrated Cairn’s strong emergency response framework but also highlighted areas for continuous improvement such as muster timings and communication systems. With active participation from business partners and flawless escalation from IRT to EMT, the mock drill reinforced Cairn’s culture of safety and commitment to protecting people, assets and the environment. The successful conduct of this drill stands as a testament to Cairn’s readiness for real-life scenarios and its focus on continuous learning and improvement.

A key highlight of the engagement was the creation of a Joint Technical Committee (JTC), bringing together experts from both organisations to drive technical evaluations and data validation. The JTC will not only analyse geological insights but also help finalise the percentage shareholding between the partners, setting the stage for the formation of a Joint Venture (JV). With ONGC committing to share vital geological datasets, Cairn teams will be able to independently validate data and ensure technical rigour in shaping the block’s development.

This partnership marks an important milestone in Cairn’s journey of collaborative growth and resource optimisation. By combining expertise, infrastructure and data, Cairn and ONGC are moving closer to operationalising Jantapathar, an asset that holds immense promise for Energising India. The CHPM platform integrates multiple business functions, from precise hydrocarbon accounting and scenario-based economic modelling to portfolio optimisation and business planning. By combining advanced analytics with seamless workflows and structured data governance, it enables smarter, data-driven decisions, while also helping us decarbonise operations and capture new opportunities for growth.

To ensure maximum impact, the rollout is being carried out in stages: Production Accounting in April 2023, Economic Modelling in May, and Business Planning in June. With this phased approach, teams across assets can steadily adapt to the new system while realising its benefits in real time. The successful go-live of CHPM not only reflects our commitment to innovation but also marks a significant milestone in building a stronger, more future-ready Cairn.
